About the Center

As the role of governments continues to increase, as the lines between public and private sectors blur, and as globalization continues at a rapid pace, it becomes important for students to acquire an appreciation for the issues governments address, the moral dilemmas they face, and the solutions they seek. Through teaching and scholarly research, the Graham Center will train the next generation of state and national leaders to confront issues vital to the interests of Florida and the nation. The Graham Center utilizes the rich academic resources at the University of Florida by taking a multidisciplinary approach to solving public policy problems. Academic programs incorporate a wide range of topics pertinent to the problem solving and decision making activities of the public and private sectors.

Mission

The mission of the Graham Center is to seek solutions to public problems in three areas.  These areas are:  (1) public leadership by providing students with the broad training necessary for successful and productive careers in the public sector; (2) the Americas in cooperation with the University of Florida’s Center for Latin American Studies and (3) homeland security by supporting courses and degree programs in less commonly taught languages, critical thinking, analysis and area studies.
