The Minor in Public Leadership

Applications for the spring 2010 class of minors are now being accepted!

The Minor in Public Leadership is an interdisciplinary program for undergraduates interested in a wide range of careers in the public and private sectors. Through coursework and practical experience students gain many of the skills and understandings necessary for effective and ethical leadership careers. The minor is intended to complement major programs offered across the university, including the natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, journalism, and business. Students pursuing the minor will also participate in workshops, seminars, and speaker series offered by the Graham Center.

Courses

Students are required to earn a grade of B or better in 21 hours of public affairs courses. Students should check with the relevant academic departments concerning the use of credits earned toward the public leadership minor for other minors and majors.

Eligibility

Students must have a minimum 3.25 UF GPA. Students will normally apply during their sophomore or junior year and after completing the university’s general education requirements.

To Apply

Applications are sought once each semester after an announcement has been posted on undergraduate listservs and elsewhere inviting applications and an information session has been held. Admissions are competitive and normally limited to no more than 15-20 students annually.

Students seeking admission to the minor should first apply to the Graham Center.  Applications should include the following:
